(Dis)Connected: Maintaining Human Relationships in a Digital Age
Limited Capacity seats available

Our smartphones and tablets have revolutionised the way we and our children communicate, connect, collaborate, and play. The advantages of these tools to education are limited only by our imaginations. And yet, these technologies also bring with them new challenges and genuine risks to the social and emotional development of our children. From the parents who hold their baby with one hand and and answer email with the other to the teens who are exposed to photoshopped images of perfection that make them feel inadequate; we are all experimenting with these new technologies without a guide book that tells us what will be the long term impact on our children's development.

It is our hope that attendees will come out from this session with an increased understanding of the likely impacts of new technologies on students' social and emotional growth and a deeper grasp of the ways in which we can maintain real human connections in a brave new world of 24-hour Wifi and anonymous chatting services.
