Supporting English Language Learners Across the Curriculum with WIDA
Limited Capacity seats available

Jakarta Nanyang School (JNY) has adopted the WIDA International Comprehensive System to meet the challenge of delivering curriculum to students with a range of English-Language proficiencies.

WIDA, developed in the United States, offers a system of standards-based instruction and assessment of English Language Learners (ELLs). WIDA allows educators to use information about their students to make data-informed decisions to support students in all classes for which English is the medium of instruction. Ultimately, WIDA helps teachers develop academic language and conceptual knowledge together in all subjects for our students.

JNY has begun to implement WIDA across its curriculum for subjects taught in English and even those in other languages. We would like to share how we have used WIDA to guide admissions, identify language supports, encourage collaboration, support professional development and interact with a global network of like-minded educators and WIDA professionals. Recently, JNY also hosted a two-day Workshop for area teachers, and WIDA's lead developers flew over from the United States to present.
