Circle Time – Hearing Students’ Voices and Teaching Social-Emotional Skills FILLING
Limited Capacity filling up

You have to reach them to teach them! Has something ever happened in your class (or before your class, or on the way into class…that put some or all students out of reach for the intended learning? ‘Circle time’ is a simple, engaging and very powerful whole-class or small-group/team practice, that can be used for conflict resolution, problem solving, personal expression, finding out about each other, and teaching and modeling social-emotional skills. It can also be used to support sporting teams, outdoor education and any group-based activity.

This session will introduce particiapnts to the theory of Circle Time, the experience of the presenter of its use in a number of schools and in diverse settings, however most of the session will be taken up with participants actually participating in (and reflecting on) a hands-and-minds-on Circle Time session.
