Character Education in the Secondary Classroom to Enhance Learning by Transforming Students from the Inside Out FULL
Limited Capacity full

Youth who focus only on increasing their knowledge and academic skills will not be adequately prepared for a satisfying life as an adult.  Living a fulfilled life demands much more than academic knowledge.  For example, people lacking integrity and good morals experience severe relationship problems or may end up in prison for lapses in ethical behavior in their business.  Middle school and high school teachers who integrate a few minutes of character education in their weekly lessons experience greater motivation by their students, fewer discipline problems, and better student behavior.  Also, parents notice improved behavior at home.  In this workshop you will be introduced to 10 character traits that have been shown to improve students’ (1) academic achievement, (2) self-esteem and self-confidence, and (3) social behavior in and out of the classroom. The 10 character traits addressed in this workshop are: integrity, conviction, self-discipline, diligence, wisdom, loyalty, courage, humility, kindness and thankfulness.

In this workshop you will learn how teachers around the globe have successfully integrated character education with their regular lessons. Demonstration lessons will be given on some of the 10 character traits. Resources for classroom teachers and parents will be available for perusal or purchase following the workshop.
